North Fork Table & Inn

My decision to include The North Fork Table & Inn this month happened as a result of a chance encounter on the last day of this season’s “Restaurant Week.”  I never write about a restaurant that I have visited only once, but I will make an exception here.  It was that good!

The dining room has less than a dozen tables covered with white linen cloths in a room with light grey wainscoting and robin’s egg blue walls, which make for a very calming and serene atmosphere.  Whenever possible, the fare is from local sources (organic produce, locally caught seafood, etc.)

Although there were four of us, we only sampled two apps (organic house smoked salmon slices on a crisp potato pancake with assorted radishes and horseradish mousse, and house made veal pastrami on a caraway potato knish with pickled onion and mustard) and two entrees (chorizo crusted Atlantic cod and stuffed squid slices over a fennel, blood orange, tomato and saffron stew, and grilled black angus hanger tenderloin slices with crispy red onions, sautéed watercress and horseradish whipped potatoes).

We managed, however, to share four desserts, (upside down pineapple cobbler, coffee toffee ice cream sandwich, chocolate caramel tart with caramel ice cream and coconut tapioca with passion fruit sorbet and crispy coconut wafer).  No individual comments are needed.  EVERYTHING was heavenly!

North Fork Table & Inn is open for lunch weekends from noon to 2:30 and for dinner from 5:00 to 10:00, every day but Tuesday and Wednesday. North Fork Table & Inn is for special occasions and can be pricey, but worth it. This is, after all, one man’s opinion.
